The Grounds.

Hartley House sits on 15 acres, with the main house, various outbuildings and manicured gardens making up 3 acres, and 12 acres of native Australian bush land.

  • The grand French Provincial inspired main house, sleeps up to 16 people in 7 bedrooms, with 3.5 bathrooms. The main house is equipped with multiple spacious living, sitting and dining areas for small and large groups. The large indoor fireplace is a perfect spot for gathering as a group.

  • The outside bunk room, only 20 metres from the main house, sleeps a further 4 people.

  • The 130sqm barn is equipped as a studio to run classes or fitness sessions, or for use as an event space to connect or celebrate.

  • The outdoor entertainment area has a large pergola with tables for outdoor eating, large outdoor fire pit, 2 BBQ’s, spit roast and wood-fire pizza oven.

  • The games room with pool table and table tennis is great for a bit of fun at the end of the day.

  • The lookout - follow the lookout signs in the forest to the newly extended deck overlooking the beautiful rolling valleys. The deck is 50sqm and has a partially covered roof, so it’s perfect for outdoor classes, meditation sessions, or lighting the fire and enjoying a cup of tea or wine.

  • The gardens and forest - the 3 acres surrounding the main house and barn include beautifully manicured European and Japanese gardens, an organically grown vegetable patch and orchard, chicken pen, and a dam on the rolling front lawn. The remaining 12 acres of the property is sprawling Australian bush land overlooking neighbouring paddocks and valleys.

  • The grounds are fully technology and audio equipped with free wifi throughout the grounds, 2 TV’s in the main house with Netflix, Stan and YouTube and large TV and surround sound system in the Barn with mobile and laptop connections available.

The Experience.

Whether you’re wanting to create an energetic and active program, or focus more on connecting within and with nature, Hartley House is an idyllic Retreat location. Just over 2 hours from Sydney and 3 hours from Canberra, Hartley House offers the space to slow down and reconnect with the important things in life.

Here’s what your program could look like:

  • Staying In - there are so many activities to do without stepping foot off the property. Host a Yoga class or fitness session in the Barn or out on the expansive front lawn. Host meditation sessions or sunset drinks at the lookout amidst the neighbouring valleys and paddocks, or play a game of Pool or Table Tennis in the games room. Find a quiet spot to relax with a book or cup of tea. Wander around the stunning manicured European and Japanese gardens, explore the organic vegetable patches and the orchard to find over 50 types of organically grown fruit and veggies. Explore the 12 acres of sprawling native Australian forest and see the Alpacas and Sheep.

  • Venturing Out - Head out for a trail run or hike in one of the many nearby National Parks, cycle through some beautiful (and very hilly!) terrain, visit a local winery or do all of the above! If you prefer to rely on the expertise and knowledge of locals, we can recommend local adventure guides and tours that do everything from canyoning, to mushrooming and Aboriginal heritage tours.

  • Pick your choice of catering options - for a truly intimate and community style experience, prepare and cook all your own meals in our large indoor kitchen or outdoors around the fire pit, using the BBQ’s, spit roast or wood fire pizza oven. Don’t forget to collect fresh eggs from the chickens each day and veggies, herbs and fruit from the garden. Or for a more luxurious experience, we proudly work with a number of leading Blue Mountains caterers to provide fresh, local meals to cater for everything from salads at lunch to long table celebration dinners.
